The Business of Tourism – information sessions

30 May 2019

Tourism is predicted to be one of Australia’s growth sectors over the next decade and visitor numbers from domestic and international markets into South East Queensland is predicted to continue its strong growth. Logan City Council is investing in supporting the development of tourism in our region and to grow the value of tourism in the region’s economy.

We have identified that our unique culture, natural environment, food production and the business and industry community themselves, present opportunities that will appeal to a range of leisure and business visitors.

Logan City Council has commissioned specialist consulting company Regionality to deliver an innovative business development program. We are supporting our local entrepreneurs and innovators to tap into this opportunity and investigate how they can explore and develop their business idea to leverage the visitor economy.

The Business of Tourism

What is on offer?

The Business of Tourism information days will focus on options for business innovation, exploring food value adding, diversifying your product or experience offering, identifying pathways to market and your potential for tapping into tourism demand.

For those who decide they want to explore their options further, we will offer support to take the next step towards integrating tourism in their business through the Tourism Business Development Program. This program is a series of six full-day workshops designed to help you to prepare to establish and/or improve your own tourism related business.

The information days will provide an overview of the opportunities and challenges of starting a tourism business and help you consider if you would like to become part of the Tourism Business Development Program.

The program will be rolled out over the next six months by Regionality and participation will be subsidised by Logan City Council. The program is designed to fast track the development of your concept, whilst learning about how tourism works and how to make it work for your business.
