As Australia is still managing the medical and economic impact of COVID-19, Australia-China relations have become strained, particularly in relation to trade.
On this National Briefing webinar, we look to explore the reasons behind potential trade barriers to Australian goods, such as barley and beef, and what implications this has for the year ahead as the China market will certainly play a significant role in Australia’s post-COVID-19 economic recovery as it did in 2008 after the GFC. We will also analyse the merits and reality of diversifying Australia’s trade portfolio.
We will cross to Shanghai to ascertain how bilateral tensions are being felt on the ground in China by Chinese media and ordinary citizens and get an update on China’s Two Sessions meeting and the status of the China International Import Expo for 2020.
