Incentives to stimulate development in Beenleigh

Beenleigh Summit Outcomes

More than 650 ideas out of 561 submissions were received during last year’s Beenleigh Summit and community engagement program, aiming to unlock the centre’s economic and placemaking potential.

These ideas have been collated into 18 key actions and 33 initiatives that will be implemented in Beenleigh in the short, medium and long term.

Download the Beenleigh Summit Outcomes Summary for more information on the key actions and initiatives.

One of the key actions was the establishment of the Beenleigh Economic Development Zone, providing incentives to stimulate investment and development of cinemas, offices and Mixed-Use Developments.

Discounts for development in the Beenleigh Economic Development Zone

Council is providing a discount of up to $1 million on infrastructure charges for all new Mixed Use Developments involving the construction of a new building within the Beenleigh Economic Development Zone. This initiative has been introduced to encourage local job creation and greater investment in Beenleigh.

The development must involve the construction of a new building which:

a) is for a Mixed Use Development that contributes significant economic, aesthetic and community benefit to the local area and the city, which has at least one shop or food and drink outlet on the ground floor of the development with an active frontage; and either:

  • an office with a minimum GFA of 1,000m²; or
  • an office with a minimum GFA of 500m² and a minimum of ten multiple dwellings.

b) is a theatre that contributes significant economic, aesthetic and community benefit to the local area and the city.

The Beenleigh Economic Development Zone comprises all properties identified within the centre core precinct and commercial precinct in the Beenleigh Local Plan of the Logan Planning Scheme 2015. A map of the Beenleigh Local Plan indicating the Centre core precinct and Commercial precinct is available on Council’s website.
