Accelerating innovation and boosting jobs

7 November 2017

A million dollar program has been announced by the State Government to accelerate innovation and boost local jobs in the Logan and Redlands region.

Through the Advancing Regional Innovation Program, funding of $500,000 over 3 years will be used to establish innovation hubs and a series of innovation summits and entrepreneurial events to foster business growth.

An innovation hub will be established in the region, starting with the GLO Lab at the Griffith University Logan Campus, bringing together students, community and industry partners and providing local startups and entrepreneurs with resources, networks and mentors.

With existing innovative businesses already operating in Logan, this is an opportunity for Logan City Council to work collaboratively with Regional Development Australia Logan and Redlands, Redland City Council, Griffith University and private investors to strengthen the local knowledge economy and create jobs.

The program also aims to develop the next generation of business leaders by strengthening links into local schools and forging new pathways to jobs of the future.
